1. Cardiovascular disease treatment and research
Cardiovascular internal medicine department was founded in 1959 by Gao De’en ,an expert in cardiovascular field of china. As a result of 50 years of three decades’diligent work , It has developed into a hospital, being famous both in domestic and foreign ,with characteristic specialties and academic style, which has contributed a lot to internal medicine of our country.
There are a faculty of 123 people, including 1 Chinese Academy of Engineering(CAE) member。In recent years, the department focuses on research for cardiac failure, atherosclerosis, and arrthymia haemodynamics. Furthermore, they have done a lot of research on the molecular level, and created a new way of research, combining haemodynamics with molecular biology.

Cardiovascular remodeling
Project description
The research in cardiovascular disease is carried out on the basis of a key national discipline of internal medicine (cardiovascular), a national key laboratory cultivation base, and a key laboratory of cardiovascular remodeling and function research (Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education). Major research areas include the regulation mechanisms, testing techniques and interventional strategies for cardiovascular remodeling.
Source of funding
National “973” project and “863” project, National Key Scientific and Technological Research Projects, National Outstanding Youth Foundation, and National Natural Science Foundation
2. Obstetrics and Gynecology, Reproductive Medicine
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, School of Medicine, is one of the five national key departments in China. It consists of five divisions, namely, general gynecology, gynecologic oncology, reproductive medicine, perinatal medicine and family plan, among which gynecologic oncology and reproductive medicine are its featured divisions. It has 120 faculty members, including 35 professors. Over 120, 000 new patient consultations and 10,000 major operations are performed annually by its faculty. It is also home to three provincial key labs for oncologic molecular biology, IVF, and prenatal diagnosis respectively. The current Chairman for this department is Professor Beihua Kong, a famous gynecologic oncologist. (Email: kongbeihua@sdu.edu.cn)

Project description
Since 1989, the Center for Sectional and Imaging Anatomy, Shandong University School of Medicine seek to improve understanding of the brain structures and functions using serial sections and imaging data. Our researches mainly focus on four directions:
1) Human brain mapping and the anatomical and functional differences between different groups
2) Functional neuroimaging
3) Digital surgical anatomy
4) Molecular imaging
Major Research Interests
Mechanism of congenital malformation
This research area is mainly about the mechanism of congenital malformation caused by environmental factors and reproduction biology. Many model organisms were used to illuminate some potential mechanisms involved in the development of neural tube defects(NTD) caused by hyperthermia, environmental drugs, chemicals, and physical agents.
Sectional and imaging anatomy
Three research programs involve in Sectional and Imaging Anatomy, include A: Atlas of Human Sectional and Imaging Anatomy. B: The Digital Human. The high precision digital anatomical atlas of Chinese body on the computer screen will be established. C: Brain Imaging. This research will be done with high technologic brain scanners, sophisticated computational analysis, cell biology and molecular biology.
Lymphology and immunity
The research interests are as followings: (1) The Lymph drainage of central nervous system, (2) Lymphatic basic theory research and clinical application, and (3) Molecular biology of Lymphocyte and tumor metastasis.
Bascic research of Psychiatric disorder and neuroanatomy
This research area involves mechanism of psychiatric disorder, neuron-target cell modulation, neural regeneration and cell transplantation.
